Request for a Help to Flood victims in Sri Lanka

We are very much concerned about the devastating flood and landslides caused by torrential rain in Sri Lanka. We hope that all of you are worried about this news as we have many friends in Sri Lanka. We have not heard any damage/loss to any members of BC Sri Lanka.

Flooding and landslides hits several part of Sri Lanka, killing more than 100 people. At the height of the floods, a third of Colombo's 650,000 residents were driven out of their homes, according to official figures. The Sri Lanka government has estimated the damage to small businesses and industries at about $2 billion. We can see the photos, videos of damages in Sri Lanka in different news channels. Many organizations have started sending aid but still Sri Lanka needs more to get of this terrific situation.

The vision of BCIO itself taught us to have an ‘OMOIYARI’ spirit and now it’s time to get on the action and help each other to overcome from this unfavorable condition. Let’s use our BC network and start fund raising activity for the Sri Lanka people to overcome from the miserable situation.

We got information from BC Sri Lanka that donations like dry foods, cloths, stationary materials (for students) and financial aid are helpful for rebuilding the affected area. If you/ your BC would like to give a donation to victims, please contact to the following members of BC Sri Lanka. They will help you to reach your donated materials in the concerned area. It’s more obliging if you can send the donation to BC Sri Lanka at your earliest or by the end of August 2016. Please talk to the contact person directly, if you need more time to collect donation.
