January 28, 2012 Meeting
Today, our meeting was located at Sushi Yoko where we ate lunch and had an overwhelming 32 people show up including the liaison officers, family, and past JA participants.
I took a quick survey from the years that we participated as JAs:
2006- Me (Stephanie Tan)
2008- Kristie, Artur, and Myles
2009- Lindsy and Kyle
2010- Sebastian and Julia
2011- Ansley and Clay
I want to welcome and introduce our new liaison officer, Kaori Igeta McEwen. She'll be working with helping us with our Bridge Club and hopefully, she'll be selected as a chaperone this summer.
From left to right: Ms. Maki-san and Ms. Kaori-sanWe're also creating a BC ATL Executive Board to help run the BC with the liaison officers with the selection of Vice President, Secretary, and the Historian that are displayed with these requirements:
Vice President: Must aid the president to organize the meetings and plan events including setting dates, taking over when the president's not available
Secretary: Sends out emails for the entire BC and write out the meeting agendas
Historian: Take pictures at every meeting, updates the blog, and records what we accomplished at each meeting
Obviously, communication is imminent and the entire executive board is required to work together for the BC to move forward. The applications are due on February 25th and they are given a prompt to answer using an essay. Decisions will be made by the meeting presumably in March and they will be made by the liaison office and me.
Next, we moved on with coming up with ideas creating the BC Atlanta logo. My friend, Leigh O'Farrell will help out with designing the logo and it'll be a surprise with what the final product will look like. So far, we have ideas with incorporating Atlanta's highlights using the peach, Coca-Cola, the city of Atlanta, a bridge, and the world. But, I'm not giving the logo away just yet :)

Lastly, we talked about the Common Activity once again to promote cultural exchange and international awareness. According to Yoshi, our liaison officer, the top 3 photos will win a prize! Pictures are all due by April 23rd for the contest, but they can still be uploading them on Facebook for an indefinite period of time.

Our next meeting will be on either February 18th or 25th depending on when the interviews will take place for the selection of the Junior Ambassadors. I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year and on that note, Happy Year of the Dragon!
