BCH volunteers at Honbushin International Center's Annual Mochitsuki Festival

The Mililani Honbushin International Center held their annual Mochitsuki Festival on Saturday January 12^th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. For the past 5 years, Bridge Club Hawaiʻi has been able to volunteer at this festival. Once the priest finished the blessing, the day of mochi making began. Dozens of families lined up, eager to get their turn. Throughout the day, BCH members assisted families with the pounding and shaping of their mochi. Regardless if it was a person’s 1^st time or their 5^th, everyone had fun working together. The purpose of the mochi pounding is to remind us that the first step to happiness is having a positive spirit. With all the excitement we felt from the festival, let us hope that 2019 will be full of happiness too!
