BRIDGE CLUB INDONESIA, WE CARE!

Bridge Club Indonesia visit YKAKI (Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia) on 30 July 2017. YKAKI is a foundation for Cancer Kids, this foundation not only facilitate medical, but also accommodation (patient and 1 guardian), and education for the kids, It’s like the kids second home during the treatment. Currently there are 40 kids who lived in YKAKI accommodation, the range of age is 1 – 18 y.o . Based on IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) statistic data 1 of 600 children will have cancer before turn to 16 y.o, and expertise who had a research around the world states that child mortality because of cancer increasing in every year: 1 kids cancer diagnosed every 3 minutes, similar to 20 kids in 1 hour or 480 kid in a day. This activity purpose is to increase awareness about cancer, helping and care for the cancer kids.

The activity started on 10 am, they excitedly greet us with their chant. We introduce Bridge Club Indonesia and APCC to them, and one of JA 2017 sharing experience about 29^th APCC. BCI invited the actor pantomime (Septian Dwi Cahyo) to entertain the kids, He perform and also teach pantomime to the kids. We sang Laskar pelangi song with pantomime action (described lyric by body language), before the pantomime performance the YKAKI kids sing this song while playing guitar, the lyrics is very meaningful to them, one of the lyric said “keep your dreams on, dream is a key to achieve and motivate us, always smiling in every condition we have, even though this life not beautiful as heaven, keep grateful to God, love your lives, because love complete us, and never give up upon your dreams.

At the end of the activity BCI gave donation to the the YKAKI committee and gave the goodie bag to the kids, after that we still chat with the kids, they’re a cheerful kids, so glad we can meet and support them.
