New Year, New Activity!

On 5th January, BCMM members held the 8th Meeting where we talked about Myanmar delegates for the 25th APCC,  preparations for our last common activity (Glob@l Interf@ce) with BC Maldives and future activities of our BC. We came up with the idea of going to an orphanage to donate money and food as we had collected enough funds from last year's meetings. We contacted orphanages and finally found a nearby orphange which is about 30 minutes drive from BCMM Head Office. Members went shopping at a supermarket and bought bottles of soybean milk and cupcakes which are children's favourites. Then we left for the Shwe Gone Dine Orphanage which is a place for orphans from 0-8 years old. The nursery is a tidy place with a lot of toys and enough furniture but even so, it is struggling for money and food. Though the nurses and teachers there care greatly for the children, they are still lacking parental love. We all were happy and sad at the same time while exploring the orphanage - sad for the unfortunate lives they are living, yet happy to able to do what little we can for them. It was our first donation acitivity after establishing the BC as well as the first activity for 2013. We all received great experiences and pleasure doing this kind of activity. We also have plans to do activities better than this in the future.
