Orientation Session for 2014 JAs!

13th February 2014

Orientation session for 2014 Junior Ambassadors and their parents

It has been 8 years since there weren’t Junior Ambassadors from Myanmar due the changes of capital and offices in our country. However, starting from 2 Peace Ambassadors- Hang Dal (JA-2000) and Nan Myintzu Khaing ( JA-2005) were selected as Peace Ambassadors in 2011 and went to Fukuoka as the first delegates again. Afterwards, they created a facebook group for BC Myanmar were many former ambassadors reuited.

Once again in 2012, Su Win Htike (JA-1999) and Tsu Yamin ( JA-2006) got contact with APCC through facebook and they applied for PA 2012 and got selected. Then they tried to contact many former PAs and JAs that our very first reunion and common activity for Everyday Ambassadors- Tree Plantation took place on 1st June 2012 where 15 former ambassadors participated. Starting from that day, our BC got stronger with more participants and members who participated actively at BC events as well as online. Our BCMM was established on 5th August 2012 (Happy Friendship Day) but still we do not have new JAs. Our EC members tried various ways to be able to send the JAs to Japan again and we know that the APCC is always welcoming new JAs. Mr. Iwamoto (former Managing Director of BCIO) visited twice to Myanmar and met up with officers here but the first time was unfortunate.

When Mr. Iwamoto visited for the second time in 2013, BCMM members arranged a meeting for him with Teacher Mu Mu (an executive member of Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni [MAJA]). She agreed to take the responsibility as a Liaison Officer of Myanmar. The selection process took place at MAJA and 6 JAs were selected….

Our dreams finally came true….

MAJA arranged an orientation session for 2014 JAs and their parents on 13th February 2014 where BCMM members also joined. The agenda was as follows:

  1. Speech by U Myint Wai ( former president of MAJA)
  2. Welcome speech by an officer from the Japanese Embassy
  3. Speech by Teacher Mu Mu (LO)
  4. Presentation on APCC by Thant Zin Oo ( 2012 -2013 President, BCMM)
  5. Presentation on BCIO, BCMM and Activities by Tsu Yamin( 2013-onwards President, BCMM)
  6. Show BCMM videos and introducing the JAs
  7. Take group photos and videos
  8. Interview session for 2 JAs and 2 BCMM EC members to be broadcasted at Myanmar International TV (MITV)

Participants: BCMM Members , LO, MAJA members , JAs and parents

Thant Zin Oo, Tsu Yamin, Shun Le Phyu, Wai Yan Ko Ko, Swam Yee Htet ( 2006)

It was a very productive day as MAJA members, 2014 Junior Ambassadors and their parents learned what APCC, BCIO and BCMM is. I am sure they got highly motivated to take part in BC activities in the future!
