2019 Otsukimi (Moon Viewing) Event

The Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association’s annual Otsukimi (Moon Viewing) event on 13-Oct-2019 at Oakland’s Lakeside Park included a tour of the Bonsai garden and the Japanese garden with Torii Gate and Japanese lanterns. The approximately two hundred attendees enjoyed obento dinners while they watched a taiko performance and the 2019 JAs do their hip-hop dance performance to “This is the Way We Roll” by Oakland’s own rapper and writer, MC Hammer. The evening finished with viewing the moon through telescopes provided by the Eastbay Astronomical Society.
