BCPak Organizes Donation Drive for IDPs

As everyone knows through media that Pakistan is facing many problems due to terrorism. Due to it, its economy has declined and tourist attraction has lost its charms. But recently we have announced war against terrorism and an operation called “ZARB-E-AZAB” to eliminate terrorism taking place in Northern areas of Pakistan. Due to this operation many families were forced to leave those areas and settle somewhere else temporarily for some time and these Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) needed help badly as they lacked basic necessities of life like food, clean water, shelter and so forth. They were in a desperate condition for survival. They needed help badly and still do till now.

As the Pakistan Army consistently tries its best to provide them with food and water temporary shelters, Bridge Club Pakistan also decided to play their part in the movement. With an eagerness to serve humanity, a Donation Program was raised by two Enthusiastic members of Bridge Club of Pakistan was initiated to collect donations and to buy essential Ration for the IDPs.

Many people contributed in the donation program and we received a lot of help and support from our families. The details of the program are given below.

THE EVENT:
The event started at 12:00 pm in which a truck containing 100 bags of groceries was donated to the Army Camp who will be transporting and distributing it to IDP’s in northern areas of Pakistan. We received a lot of support from our families, our parents played a key role in management of the whole event and the effort of labors in making the event a success was deserves recognition. The effort was greatly appreciated by the Army personnel’s.
Fatima tuz Zehra (JA-2008) and M. Moiz Ashraf Qazi (JA-2008) started collecting money for IDP’s  a month earlier before the event and the amount collected was then sent to M.MOIZ ASHRAF QAZI (JA-2008) who was responsible for the buying, packaging of groceries and transporting it to the camp and the printing of BCP Banner. Around $1500 (1, 44,300 Pakistani Rupees) was collected by us two and it was surely a huge amount for beginners. From it, about $1300 (1, 27,000 Pakistani Rupees) was spent on the groceries packages and each packet weighted about 20 KG. The remaining amount will be given to poor and needy families who cannot afford even the basic necessities of life. This task will be known as DONATION PROGRAM (Phase 2). And it will be completed in this month. Thanks to everyone who contributed and appreciated this idea.  And we hope to raise another donation program for needy people next year too.
