BCP Ration Drive 2K15

After the huge success of Donation Drive for IDP's, this year BCP again organised BCP Ration Drive as a part of BCP Ramadan Projects. But this time the project was organised on broader level. This time BCP managed to collect donations from not just Islamabad but from whole Pakistan and it even received donations from UK too. This time there was a new addition to the drive along with the event organisers we had a good number of volunteers too without which the drive coudn't have been a success.

The main aim of #BCPRamzaanProject was to help out the needy and care for the uncared ones.BCP
Ramzaan Project 2015 was divided into different phases including:

The main aim of #BCPRamadanProjects was to help out the needy and care for the uncared ones. BCP Ration Drive was divided into different phases:

  • Donations collection.
  • T-shirts selling (the money went for charity purpose).
  • Ration packages for needy.
  • Donations for the victims of Heat stroke in Karachi.

PHASE 1 :

The social media compaign for BCP Ration Drive was the biggest one so far for BCP. Social Networking System's like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram were used along with two hashtags #BCPRationDrive and #BCPRamadanProjects. The main aim was to spread the message to Friends and Family along with Colleagues and encourage them to send the same message to their Freinds and Famiy and so on to create awarness among the majority and ofcourse to make the Drive more successful.

Phase 3 :

Helping Heat Wave Victims in Karachi :

Karachi (old capital of Pakistan) did not receive proper rainfall for many months, and due to that the average temperature rose to new heights, because of no rainfall the freshwater became unavailable and people started dying of heat and thirst. Hospitals failed to cope up with the amount of patients cause more and more started coming day by day, glucose bags, stretchers and water tanks became short.

So the Organisers decided that they must help the Heat Wave Victims first and for this purpose a sum of 25K was sent to Karachi with the sole purpose to buy Glucose bags ,Water tanks and water bottles. No photographs were taken cause of privacy reasons.

Phase 4:

Ration Packages Distribution :

The job for the preparation of Ration Packages was entrusted to M. Moiz Ashraf who did it really well. About 18 packets were prepared. Volunteers searched out for the families who were in need of Ration (Groceries). Each packet costed about 2500 Rs (25$).

Contents :

  • Flour
  • Rice
  • Pulses

Phase 5:

Iftar Easar at PIMS:

Pakistan Institue of Medical Sciences was established in Islamabad by Japan as an act of friendship between two countries. This hospital is now one of the most leading hospitals providing cheap but quality health care to the citizens. Every day hundreds of people visit it and among them the majority is from far flung areas who are quite in need of help & food.

So the BCP in colaboration with Sha'or The Society held Iftaar at PIMS during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The above mentioned society has been holding Iftaar for the patients and their families for past 4 years regularly. BCP decided to join up with them and allocated a sum of 25000Rs (250$) for this purpose. The BCP Members along with Volunteers volunteered for this cause.

The Volunteers were quite impressed with management and the whole event and wanted to volunteer again so BCP again gave them a platform to Volunteer at Iftaar again.

Phase 6:

Search for Needy families, Home to Home Compaign:

This is the longest and most difficult phase of the Drive. The Organisers were asked to seach out for families from house to house who are in need of money. For now the money was used to help people pay their school fees and to help them pay for their books. The money also helped people to pay for their medical bills! Still uptill now the families are being carefully searched for and money according to their needs is being given to them. Photographs were again not taken to protect their Identity.

Summing Up:

Bridge Club Of Pakistan Ramzaan Project 2015 came out to be a very successful one , leaving it's impact not only on members but the volunteers as well who wish to extend their relation with BCP. Seeing the good results BCP plans to extend the activity in helping out different schools by paying visits to them and doing what can be done. BCP also plans to give certificates for the appreciation of volunteers who did a great job for the sake of events.

The certificate design is given below :
