Embarking on a transformative journey as a Peace Ambassador, Nilukshan Krishnaram, representing BRIDGE CLUB Sri Lanka, had the remarkable opportunity to participate in the Special Peace Ambassador Camp 2022 held in Fukuoka, Japan. The first physically-held PA camp in the post-COVID era organized by the Asian Pacific Children's Convention in Fukuoka (APCC), brought together participants from 14 BRIDGE CLUBs worldwide. Throughout this enriching experience, Nilukshan gained invaluable insights, fostered global connections, and immersed himself in the vibrant culture of Japan, yet again!

From 24th October to 4th November 2022, Nilukshan joined 12 other Peace Ambassadors from 11 countries for a physically-attended camp. Due to COVID restrictions, they spent the initial 6 days in Hotel Granview Fukuoka Airport, which served as the base for their intial activities. Despite the limitations, the PA camp organizers ensured a fulfilling program that offered a blend of virtual and in-person experiences.

During his stay in the hotel, Nilukshan had the honor of visiting the Fukuoka Prefecture office, along with the other PAs and BCIO Head Office Members who arrived in Fukuoka earlier. He had the pleasure of meeting the Vice Governor of the Prefecture and presented a special memento from Sri Lanka, symbolizing the everlasting friendship between the two nations. The following day, Nilukshan visited the Fukuoka City office along with the PAs who had arrived in Fukuoka by that day, where they had a memorable encounter with the Mayor of the City, further strengthening international connections and public relations to continue the mission of APCC.

With three days dedicated to virtual sessions within the hotel rooms, Nilukshan actively participated in discussions organized by the PA Camp Planning Team & BCIO, surrounding the theme of building a "Utopian" BRIDGE Club. These insightful conversations helped the PAs ideate how to ensure the strengthening of their local BCs by identifying the challenges faced by them individually. Also, they fostered a deeper understanding of intercultural communication and collaboration, laying the foundation for long-lasting friendships among the Peace Ambassadors.

As part of the camp, Nilukshan also took part in the Global BRIDGE Leader Program, which consisted of two parts. In the first part, the PAs collaborated with the APCC and Fukuoka Kids Art Project, where they encountered a memorable and fun experience, painting APCC T-shirts alongside children at the Fukuoka Foreign Language Center. The second part involved a visit to the ‘Fukuoka Growth Next’ Global Startup Center, providing a glimpse into the innovative spirit of Japan's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

After their stay in the hotel, Nilukshan and fellow Peace Ambassadors moved to the Global Arena. This phase of the camp was filled with engaging activities, including a Halloween Party, BBQ Party, an exchange program with the members of BRIDGE CLUB Japan, a chance to make their own Kumihimo (traditional braided cords), a visit to Miyajidake Shrine, a serene Tea Ceremony, and exciting hiking and sunset viewing experiences. These activities not only showcased the beauty of Japan but also fostered camaraderie among the participants.

While at the Global Arena, Nilukshan actively participated in the discussions that were focused on BCIO Common Activity Planning, Inter BC Collaboration, and BCIO 5-Year Plan. These fruitful sessions provided a platform for sharing ideas, best practices, and future goals among the BRIDGE Clubs, further strengthening the network and fostering collaboration with OMOIYARI spirit.

Beyond the planned activities, Nilukshan had the opportunity to engage in team bonding activities, MEET & GREET host families and APCC volunteers, and participate in mindfulness sessions organized by APCC & BCIO. These experiences not only added value to the PA Camp but also emphasized the importance of connection, well-being, and personal growth.
